Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) named Sunny Howard as its chief development officer. Howard joined the organization last month.
“For 56 years and counting, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Austin has been building great futures for the youth of Austin. And with 57% of national alumni saying the Clubs saved their lives, there’s no question this organization is vital to the community. I’m so excited to be part of this movement and to help further its impact on the kids in our city,” said Howard.
As CDO, Howard’s responsibilities include leading the organization’s fundraising and donor operations and overseeing campaigns, foundations, and resource development. She’ll also act as a liaison between BGCAA and the community in a variety of capacities. Furthermore, she will work in partnership with the senior management team to oversee BGCAA Clubs throughout Greater Austin.
Howard brings a depth of experience and longstanding passion for nonprofits, working to maximize their service and impact to the community. Prior to joining BGCAA in August, Howard served as the chief development officer and major gifts officer at the American Red Cross for a total of eight years. Before that, she spent three years serving as the development coordinator at the Texas Historical Commission.
A native Texan, Howard grew up in Wimberley, just outside of Austin. She holds bachelor’s degrees in English and history from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master’s degree in history from St. Edward’s University.
