During the last week of October, the University of Texas at Austin student-athletes visited Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area Home Club for the 2nd annual Longhorn GREATDAY. This special event created an inspiring and vibrant experience for nearly 100 Club members, who were joined by over 20 UT athletes and more than 70 UT Sports Communication college students for an afternoon filled with engaging activities that promoted healthy lifestyles, community connections, and spirited fun.
Former University of Texas Longhorn and BGCAA Board member Jamaal Charles made a special appearance during Longhorn GREATDAY, bringing an extra layer of inspiration to the event. A football legend and proud advocate for youth development, Jamaal took the time to engage with the UT Austin student-athletes, sharing his experiences both on and off the field.
Jamaal’s presence underscored the importance of perseverance, leadership, and giving back to the community. By connecting with both the Club members and the college athletes, he demonstrated the lasting impact of mentorship and community involvement.
We are deeply grateful for Longhorn GREATDAY, which exemplifies the transformative power of community involvement. This incredible day left a profound and lasting impact on our youth, fostering genuine connections and shared moments of joy. It built cherished memories that inspire great futures and empower the next generation to strive for excellence. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this day possible and enriched the lives of our Club members.
