Support our efforts:
Pulling inspiration from every art realm, there’s no end to the creativity in our BGCAA Fine Arts Programs. The Photography Program combines expression with practical photography skills for middle to high school aged youth. I Heart Art creates beginning artists in elementary school members, with focus areas in sculpture, screen-printing, drawing, and painting. The Fiber Arts Program for middle to high school youth develops crocheting, sewing, knitting, and weaving skills. With a heavy interest in diverse and living artists, Artist Explorations (K-12) exposes Club kids to the methods of the 20th and 21st centuries’ greatest creative minds. In partnership with Grounded in Music, Club members develop skills to sing and play instruments starting at any age. The Dramatic Arts Program, presented by TNT Drama Matters and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, encourages all Club kids to hone their acting skills into a full-blown show. Finally, Exploratory Arts Club allows students to utilize their voice and choice as they choose to study a variety of topics, including film, jewelry making, and architecture.
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area runs three arts events, annually. December’s Holiday Art Bazaar helps Club kids create art projects to give as gifts for the holidays. February’s National Fine Arts and ImageMakers Gallery Openingcelebrates the artistic accomplishments of more than 2,000 Club kids in a large-scale exhibition. Finally, March’s Performing Arts Presentation showcases dances, songs, and short plays created by our members.
